inspired by color collective

What’s the one thing we talk about more around here than flowers? Color! There is nothing more inspiring to your two twenty-somethings than color. And inspiration can be found anywhere. Don’t get us wrong, we love to schlep the latest and greatest bridal magazines around wiping our drool of their glossy photos. But when it comes to never ending free inspiration, nothing beats web resources.

We stumbled upon Color Collective this week and love its focus on color inspiration. Created by designer Lauren Willhite, this blog is unapologetically simple. No fluff or frills here, color takes the limelight in each post. Willhite finds inspiration from photographs, fellow designers, flowers and other natural items (check out the egg post - one of our favorites!). So if your shoulder bag and your mind are overloaded with too many fabric swatches, ribbon trimmings and rumpled magazines, lighten your load by logging on to this simple site.

fresh ideas….

no fuss weddings

Trend watch: simple weddings are in. We’ve noticed more and more gen Y brides are taking the simple route when planning their weddings. Off the rack dresses, local venders and indie inspired details (think Etsy & DIY projects) are taking center stage. And the industry is taking notice. Check out The Limited’s new bridal line (only $298 / dress) and Martha’s DIY section in her latest magazine.

rave of the week…………………..……………………………

fall 2010 trends from nyc

Lovely, New York’s newest bridal boutique recently teamed with Forget.Me.Knot.Weddings to bring you this fall’s top five trends. Not surprisingly, gloves (think classic Audrey Hepburn or black lace ala Madonna) made the top spot. We’ve been noticing this trend since this spring’s Prom season (David’s Prom featured hot pink over the elbow gloves in on of their 2010 photo spreads).

Another trend to watch is off the rack dresses for bridesmaids (no fussy bridal shop necessary). Upscale clothing companies like J.Crew and Anthropologie have already been catering to these brides (see our rave for more info here!).

Our favorite trend is the statement hairpieces. They can be spotted everywhere from bridal shops to Etsy and have added new terminology to the business (who doesn’t know what a fascinator or bird cage veil is nowdays!).
